I got the 8th edition. very well written with modern examples. It explains well a lot of difficult to understand concepts. It was the textbook for my Kellogg MBA class. It helped me clarify a number of notions with great explanations and examples. I would recommend this book to anyone who would like to get acquainted with international finance topics.

The textbook came in a good condition except of two crumpled pages. The only recommendation for improvement would be to pack the book properly so it doesn't move within the box / envelope freely.Note for the students: this textbook seems to have exactly the same content and pagination as the U.S. publication has but of different colour (pink instead of blue).

More Jack Reacher than James Bond, Jack Noble is your prototypical gruff hero with a heart of gold. Stock action fare- high octane gun fights, fist fights and car chases, replete with tag-a-long partner who is best bud/heavy muscle and a sexy femme fatale (sometimes an old acquaitance/flame, at times a new and exciting one- but they're always tough and capable, good foils for good ole Jack). So, what sets this series of novels apart from the likes of Jason Bourne, Jack Bauer, Jack Reacher or dare I say it, James Bond?Nothing, really. With the exception of the literary Jack Reacher (who stands 6'5", 250lbs of solid muscle, as opposed to the one in the film who tops out at a whopping 5'8", 150lbs- but he did play the hell out of that role so I liked the movie), Noble is the largest physically, and being ex-military, ex-Special Forces you may assume that he has all of the lethal tricks of the trade. Makes for some good reading during the action bits, dialog's a bit brief and choppy but you don't necessarily expect eloquence from these types, right?He's not as smart as Jacks Bauer or Reacher, as fast or as quick on his feet as Jason Bourne, he couldn't even sniff James Bond's shoes if we're talking suaveness and there's only one Jack Bauer and Mr. Noble is not it. But, if you like reading books with those types of flawed, but eminently capable heroes then you'll like this book, as well as the other Jack Noble novels. I've read Season 1 & 2 as well as a dual compilation pulled from the first books; they're page turners for sure. Nothing too deep or thought provoking; sometimes I like that in a book. You get engaged but it doesn't become this long emotionally driven journey, like if you were reading Game of Thrones or something. Much lighter fare, but still worth the read if its your thing.

In their break-out PBS TV show of the 1980s, "Sneak Previews", the late reviewers, Gene Siskel and Roger Ebert verbalized a problem with many movies they called "Idiot Plot". "Idiot Plot" is where everyone in the audience knows was the protagonist(s) should do, but they don't do it.Starting with "Dead in Greece" I've seen more and more "Idiot Plot" despite the otherwise non-stop action and tension the Jack Noble books raise. Jack, Bear, Pierre, Clarissa and Jasmine, all of whom are supposed to be these super-spy, super-assassin types seem to constantly make blunders that they would never make in the earlier books, like forgetting that their cell phones and cars are traceable, not anticipating another "bad guy" in the closet or behind the door, and this happens repeatedly. Smart as they are supposed to be, they just don't seem to be that smart.But while Jack and Bear are certainly not very noble characters, too willing to kill out of pure rage, they certainly are interesting people.

I bought these books because everywhere I turned Jack Noble was compared to Jack Reacher, Mitch Rapp, Jack Ryan and Jason Bourne. Since I like all those characters I bought 12 books for nearly $60 convinced that I couldn't go wrong. The Jack Noble character does not come close to any of the other protagonists. It seems he is impulsive, makes poor decisions and survives by sheer luck. There is constant reference to his reputation but I haven't seen anything in the books that justifies that reputation. Nevertheless, I plowed through one book after another hoping to find that the characters and stories got better. No such luck. I never bothered to finish the last book when I realized it was more of the same. Very disappointed.

The first two books were relatively good, although Mr. Ryan needs to learn the correct past tenses of the words sneak, lie, drag, etc. (Sneaked, lay, dragged - not snuck, laid, drug).By the time I finished reading this sixth book, I decided I've had enough of Jack Noble. He's no longer a character I admire. He just seems to kill for the sake (or thrill) of killing. And there are a lot of instances where I question just how Jack was able to accomplish certain things without being discovered. I don't remember if it was in this particular book or another one (they all seem to have merged together in my mind), but there was a scene in which Jack went into an old warehouse. He was concerned about the wood being too fragile to support his weight. But he wasn't concerned about the fact that his walking on the warehouse floor would leave footprints in the dust! Ergo, the guys he was out to kill would have noticed that someone had been in there recently. Sorry - it just didn't make sense.As I said, I'm done with Jack Noble. I just can't take any more of him. He's no longer "noble". He's just a killer.

Jack Noble's been dead for six months, so why are people still trying to kill him? He decides to come out of hiding and surprises many of his friends, associates and enemies alike. Bear is knocked unconscious in a bank and Mandy is kidnapped. Who done it and why? Mr. Ryan takes readers on a whirlwind journey between the U.S., Russia, France and Greece. Jack and Bear end up on separate teams with different missions - both ordered to assassinate high ranking officials within a notorious mobster organization. and later come together to seek out a mole within the Pentagon. People high up suspect, but aren't saying. When Jack gets close to finding his target, friends and associates begin dying. Nobody can be trusted and everyone is suspect. Is Jack's former partner, Frank, behind this? It's a rollercoaster ride between the continents and difficult to set the book aside. The first four Nobles were very good. This one was disappointing. Some of the action scenes were pretty good but most were pedestrian and just going through the motions. The plot was klunky. The story kept jumping in a hyperactive abrupt manner between different locations and people.The pacing stayed at the same level throughout instead of building up to a satisfactory climax. Since this was recommended by a friend, I'm not certain how this book is categorized. It's a clean story about loss and love. The characters are likeable, and the plot seems plausible...real. Although church is mentioned a few times...as in mentioning they had gone to church, had friends from church, had a funeral at church, I would not label this as a "Christian" story. Don't get me wrong. It's most certainly not anti-Christian. I just don't see the needed faith element required for that classification. I loved the story. It was a good, wholesome read.Here's my constructive criticism.There are issues in the editing...or I should say in the incomplete sentence fragments. I wish the author had found a way to use complete sentences where she only used fragments.I would have liked to know more about whether or not either brother went back to college, more about Livy's business, and more about the relationship that ended just after they agreed there was something there. The story needed a couple more chapters in my opinion.

I loved Kissed by a Cowboy and thoroughly enjoyed the quick read. I found the characters so easy to identify with and fell in love with them quickly.Haley Carston, also know as tag-along because of her perpetual shyness, returns to Redbud Trails, Oklahoma, to care for her dying aunt. Haley is about to turn thirty years old and she left the town of Redbud Trails when she went away to college and never returned except for a few visits. Upon returning to the place she considered her hometown old memories come to the forefront, especially when she runs into Maddox Michaels, the cowboy she has never forgotten. He was her best friend's brother and had taken her to the senior prom as a favor to his sister.Maddox Michaels was on the fast track to college football and possibly the pros when life intercepted his plans and he ended up back home running the family ranch. He is embarrassed and angry that he did not realize his dream, especially when he was called home one year shy of earning his degree. When he runs into Haley old feelings begin to niggle at him but he knows he is in no financial situation to consider a lasting relationship.There were many things I liked about this book, one being the lack of angst. This author is new-to-me and I am excited to read more of her work. She writes so well and without profanity and sexual exploits, that you don't miss it at all.

Part 1: So often we let the failures and lies of the past define who we are in the present. This sweet "young love lost, mature love found" story brings together two awkward teens (Maddox and Haley) who stumble in and out of young love, only to meet years later with fresher, more mature eyes and hearts that can endure...if they can move pass the past. Part 2: Meet Maddox and Haley. Now married and in the midst of early parenthood. The constant trials of sleepless nights, dirty diapers and a wayward teenager threaten to break their marriage. Maddox and Haley learn that their greatest strength is when they tackle trials together, but there is a chasm between them a mile wide. Maybe some sweet, passionate Cowboy kisses will mend the breach. Great story and even better when read in the Kissed by a Cowboy 1 & 2 Heart of Oklahoma book set!

I love the way this story was written. It starts off with our heroine, seventeen year old Haley Carston looking into a full length mirror at her pink poofed prom dress. She looked like a strawberry cupcake. This was a mistake. Why had she let her best friend Katie talk her into this. She and Katie were total opposites. Haley had just moved into town and was extremely shy. From the very first day Katie, the outgoing popular girl had taken her under her wing. Her date to the prom was Katie's older brother Maddox, who she secretly is crushing over. Many years later when Haley returns to town to take care of her aunt who has been diagnosed with cancer, she never thought about running into Maddox. But every girl remembers her first kiss. Lacy Williams does such a great job weaving for us a heart warming novella. Haley's return to town helps each of the family members learn to grow and move on. I enjoyed and would recommend this story. Being able to listen to an audio copy made it even more enjoyable.

This is a great, short little book. Barth lays out a lot of his major theological ideas clearly and concisely. I was surprised to find that not only was this book brilliant theologically, but it was also very devotional. I've tried to read some Barth in the past and he's notoriously difficult to understand. However, in this little volume, he lays out some dense ideas in ways that are easy to grasp.I would highly recommend this volume to anyone, but especially to those who are interested in Barth studies and don't really know where to start. Due to its non-academic nature, this book provides a great introduction to a very dense thinker.

If you are intetested in witchcraft at all, I highly recommend this book. It is very informative, spot on, and well explained. I would give it more than 5 stars if I could! Raven is a great aurhor!

I have wanted so much to explore the OLd Religion of Southern Europe. Once I opened this book, it was not easy to put it down. If you ever wanted to know what your grandmother was talking about back in the day, this is the book to find your answer. I am thrilled with this book. Received it in a very short time after ordering. Great deal!!!

This book enables and teaches you the Old Ways, so that you can incorporate them into your own practices. It has beautiful rituals and my favorite is The Passage of the Soul. This book is more informative than most others. I have owned it before, a signed copy. However along the path it was taken, so years later I purchased another copy. Because without it, I have no other reference that I deem as worthy. It is one of a kind

the author weaves true historic facts of italian witches who did better than those in europ yet kept the craft alive to today. id buy just for its history but it has even as much or more magickal ways to broaden the practicianer to better understandings how and why a good book.

I think the problem with true crime is often that reality just can't compare with fantasy. Stories don't come together neatly, as they do in fiction. The endings aren't what we want. There is often a sense of lingering unfulfillment, and questions that are never answered. I have read most of Amazon's First Reads true crime novels, and none have ever gripped me so much as this one. The story that was slowly revealed was profoundly disturbing, shocking, and not at all what I expected. So many lies, so much abuse, narcissism, manipulation, and mental illness.This story was incredible, and from 50% on I literally couldn't put the book down. And that was also the point at which I stopped trying to guess who I'd end up the most angry at, or where I'd place the most blame... Mostly because with each new piece of the story, everything shifted.What a wrenching experience. I have never once thought to myself that I'd reread a true crime novel, but I'll reread at least the last half of this book again, and then maybe again. It was utterly gripping, and wove together emotion, truth, and conjecture into a story that will stick with me for a very, VERY long time!

I have been enjoying read crime and true crime stories lately, which is why I decided to read this book. I was looking forward to finding out the "why" for this crime. What drove this mother to try to murder 2 of her 3 children? The answer... we don't know. Every trail Nancy Rommelmann goes down either is a dead end or a loop that shifts the blame onto someone else. There is no resolution. No answer. At least her surviving children are doing better without her- they're fed and cared for.I am fine with a book that has a sad ending. I am not happy with a book with an incomplete ending.Now for the other main problem I had with this book: the writing. Miss Rommelmann has written many books and articles over the years, but you'd never know it. She jumps from 1st & 3rd person frequently- I can excuse chapter to chapter or when she stated the crime and events the day of at the beginning of the book- but my issue was how quickly it would change without a segway. There are flashbacks (which may or may not deal with this case) that interrupt the main story. Half of the time when someone is speaking, there aren't quotation marks. Sometimes when she is taking with someone there are no quotation marks and it reads like a thought. Conversations and thoughts should be written differently. The timeline of things leading up to the crime is jumbled. And half-way though the book she spends several pages talking about a completely different crime. She rewrites the story of the crime with just a teeny bit more detail at least 3 times. I stopped counting after a while. It's poorly written and I'm mad that I wasted my time on it.

As a fan of true crime novels, I had hoped this book would be similar to the brilliant writings from Ann Rule. To my disappointment, thus book was rambling nonsense that did not follow a consistent time line. Character development was weak and the author felt the need to randomly insert herself into the story. A waste of my June First Read.

I knew nothing about this story before reading this book. Therefore I was very curious to learn about the facts of this case. Alao, as a trained psychologist, I was curious to see the personalities and potential motivations laid bare through the story. Both of these were accomplished for me in this writing. However, the writing style itself left something to be desired for me. I often felt lost in understanding to whom the author was speaking. My understanding would have benefited by more consistent chronicity in the telling and by more consistent use of quotation marks to delineate to whom the author is speaking or even who was speaking. When I see no quotation marks I assume the author is speaking only to me, the reader. But that was often not the case in this book. Nevertheless, it's a good read despite being somewhat challenging to a person used to APA style writing.

Many people NEED to read this book. Many, even most, will hate the basic story, but, we all need to understand the mindset here, if we are to find a way to prevent more of these sorts of horrors.Okay, there is a specific reason this tale struck home. That reason is part of the explanation as to why I am so moved. Other, even more telling reasons, concern two close relatives of mine (remaining anonymous for now) who wreaked horrific nightmares upon their children. Perhaps few living people can appreciate my deep understanding for the combined effects of drugs and sex within American society…Due to an uncanny set of ironies, part of me wanted to resist reading this story. Because of those ironies, I found that I HAD to read this book. A paradox similar to a something in Stephen King’s most recent novel, “The Outsider.” ‘CAN’T MUST.’Let me explain. The first irony is that I recollect bits of this true story from the weeks just before my wife and I moved from our home near Portland, Oregon to North Dakota in June, 2009. That, however, is not the more chilling coincidence.Today, our church is hosting a funeral for another child murdered by his mother. The young son of a chiropractor was tossed from a hotel room in New York, and followed by his mother. His uncle is my chiropractor here and his grandmother did a story about a bakery I once started in town. So, yes, this story comes about as close to home as any nightmare I might wish to endure.What I mean is, it boggles the mind to know that this true story about a woman tossing two of her children into a river (one died) is available to read on the very day that a local friend’s nephew, who was killed in much the same way, is being buried in my adopted home town. I was at work, 25 miles away, so could not attend the funeral with my wife. I guess, in a spiritual sense, I am taking part in that funeral by grieving over the facts of another murder?I trust readers of this review will not be too put off by my introduction, but I do feel I must put this true story review into perspective.BLUSH FACTOR Aside from the profane nature of the topic itself, the number of spoken profanities is not excessive. Still, the few f-words might concern a few people who might choose to read it to a child or a fellow member of the church book club.WHAT GRABBED MY ATTENTION As nonfiction, this reads much more as though it were a novel. Good flow, the sort of grammar that rings true to the ear. The writer spends a good deal of effort in setting the scene.WHAT PERPLEXED ME Maybe this is because I write reviews the way this author writes this book. She tends to explain herself in the story. For me, it interrupts the flow of the work, much as some review readers tell me my reviews do. [Mental note: consider reducing my interjection of self into reviews.]IS THERE ANY HUMOR IN THIS DARK TALE Yes. I pops up at about location 789. It’s the definition of a three-time loser. Coming at the point it does, it tickled my funny bone.POINT OF VIEW This is written in multiple points of view. Some is first person, but most is third person.OTHER SALIENT POINTS The story includes photos and a sketch, which help to bring the story to life. Also, the writer skillfully interweaves bits and pieces regarding other crimes where in mothers murdered their children.EXCERPT‘…Sabrina Trembley pulled her car to the end of the car line for Living Savior Lutheran Preschool. If the car line had always bugged her—these were preschoolers, for goodness’ sake, so why in the world should parents not be allowed to walk their four-year-olds to class?—today she was especially annoyed. It had been only two days since Eldon was killed; were they expected to stay honeycombed in their cars and interact as little as possible?Sabrina couldn’t do it. She couldn’t drive up like everything was normal and drop off her son. She swung the car around and parked in the church parking lot. It was a beautiful clear morning. She opened the car doors and sat there with Max. The car line looked longer than usual because the school doors had not opened on time. Sabrina was under the impression that teachers came early to pray together before school started. What could that have been like this morning, absorbing the news about Eldon while planning how to keep the kids happy all day?When the doors opened, Sabrina saw how strained things were. The teachers wore grim half smiles while trying to sound ordinary: “Hi, Daphne. It is, though, a story that you will need to grapple, if you intend to be a part of the solution. It matters less whether you find empathy for the mother, than it does that you understand the cause and effect of the interweaving of our current society in relation to lifestyles, entertainment, and the legal system.Based on the overarching content, this is five star nonfiction.
