Straight to the point. If you're reading this review either you or someone you love dearly have Lupus.This handbook must be in the shelves and minds of those who confront this disease daily; not only because it explains how the body reacts to the disease,but also helps in the recognition of symptoms and bring awareness to the multiple signs of alert that one must know to react to an organ attack.Some of the chapters are somewhat complex to the layman, but Dr. Wallace tries to make everything accessible with drawings, reference tables and extremely useful "summing up" most important point section.Each body part that might be affected by SLE (in Portugal LES) has a separate chapter, also detailed are the ways medication work and their side effects (short and long term).Other interesting sections are the explanation of lab test terminology, and what they mean.The lifestyle, limitations and how to cope with the disease are also important for all to know. Can a SLE patient have a baby? Is it hereditary? What kind of protection should a patient use against the sun rays? Why is it an important alarm signal a medicated Lupus patient having high fever? Does it severely limit life expectancy? Those questions and many, many more are answered in a clear way, without evasives, but with a positive attitude.Are you adding this book to the cart? If you or someone you love has lupus, I think that this book should be on your nightstand. It's on mine in the hardcopy AND I have it on my Kindle. It is THE book for lupus patients. For those stating that the book is quite technical...it does have it's moments but please don't think that you need a Bachelor's degree to understand it. I don't and I understood it just fine.I notice that when it comes to writing books of this subject matter, some books are criticized for being too easy to understand, while others are criticized that they are too technical. One could say that this book has enough information for a beginner to understand as well as information for those who are looking for more technical information.If you have lupus, this should be the first book that you buy. I don't agree with everything Dr. Wallace says on the topic but it is a great starting place and I highly recommend it.

If you wish to know about what is actually going on in your body with this disease, this is the book for you. Many other books about Lupus teach you how to live with the disease and that's good. But I wanted to know in detail what the heck was going on in my body, what to watch for, what drugs and treatments I might try and how they would affect me. This book covers all that in detail. This book might be a bit too technical for some, but I didn't have any trouble understanding it. Rhuematologists are few and far between, and really good ones are even harder to find. The author of this book is very knowledgeable and experienced. It's good to have "him" by my side, to supplement my own local Rhuematologist as I continue this journey.

I have tried several books on Lupus and Dr. Wallace is definitely the gold standard in understanding the disease. This book is the only one I use now (besides a textbook). It's really easy to understand and Dr. Wallace covers aspects of the disease other books fail to cover.

I purchased this book with many others for a dear friend of mine recently diagnosed. Therefore, I am unable to provide an informed review of the content of the book. I selected 4/5 stars for this book because I did flip through it and read a few random sections. I thought it was easy to understand and I haven't heard anything different from the recipient of the book. I would order from this seller again.

This book is one of the best out there on Lupus. Mr. Wallace disects the disease into many parts because Lupus had many frustrating facets to it. After reading this book, I am going to talk to my doctor who does not think that I have Lupus, because I don't fit neatly into a box. I can't wait to tell this doctor that my last blood test showed the anitphospholipid levels were extremely high. I noticed it, he didn't. Thank you Mr. Wallace for naming the symptoms, and the cause of it. My "gut feeling" was right.

And trust me, I've read them all. The only thing is - if you have ZERO background whatsoever on this disease, or in science in general, don't start with this book. Instead, start with one of the more general, introductory books like "living with lupus" or "lupus q and a" to just get a background because this is one heavy-duty book, laden with science that is very thorough, comprehensive, and sometimes complicated. It's amazing though, and a must-read. I'm VERY happy this exists.

I have Lupus, and have bought each new edition of the book as it has come out. It's the best book on Lupus out there. Now I have also been diagnosed with MS, if only I could find a book about MS that was as concise, organized and well written as this one, I wouldn't feel nearly as "alone" in the land of MS as I do.Thank you Dr. Wallace for such a great book that helped me navigate the uncertain road of being newly diagnosed with Lupus 15 years ago, and for the continued information you provide to all of us who have or are affected by Lupus.

There is some good stuff in this book, but I had hoped for more. Instead of a beginner's guide to technology, it would up being little more than a story designed to hype crypto-currencies in general, and Bitcoin in particular. I should have expected this, as the author declares himself to be an invester in Bitcoin, so of course he promotes the technology. My big problem is that the book gives short shrift to blockchain (which has enormous potential), and instead promotes an implementation -- crypto-currency -- without spending any time describing the inherent problems. There are huge problems with crypto-currencies that go ignored by their cheerleaders. The technology is often created by young people with little experience in programming, no business background, and no understanding of bookeeping, accounting, and monetary policy. As an example, all the crypto-currencies I've looked into are inherently deflationary, which means you'd be better off saving it than spending it. As an example, the first bitcoin transaction was 10,000 BTC used to buy two pizzas. In 2017 that same amount would have been worth $150 million.

I picked this up on a recommendation for a starting point to understand Bitcoin, Ethereum, and crypto. I wasn't disappointed, and you won't be either if that's what you're looking for.As William Gibson said "The future is already here -- it's just not very evenly distributed." Maybe you've heard that blockchain and crypto are the future but haven't taken the plunge to learn about them yet. If so, I strongly recommend you pick up this book as your guide. The author has done a great job more evenly distributing the future in an entertaining and accessible way.

This book gives a broad overview of crypto-currencies, giving me enough to understand what's going on in the crypto world, and arming me with info to dig deeper if I want to know more.The first 2/3 of the book explaines why Bitcoin exists and how it works, what alt-coins like Ethereum add to the mix, how they've evolved to deal with the increase in popularity as well as hacking and theft, and how they're affecting things today.The last third of the book includes a tutorial on making your own Ethereum transactions and converting them to Bitcoin Cash, some advice and past examples for investing, and important points to maintain security and avoid mistakes.The book talks a lot about the potentials and benefits of blockchain technology, but not much about the cons, so there's some obvious bias in the viewpoint. But it did give me insight into how things may turn out with blockchain more prevalent in the future.

So I got in on investing before I really understood what crypto currencies and blockchain really are. I was swept up in the fervor and excitement.Reading this book really shined a light on the difficult to understand reasons why this tech is so important and influential. I particularly liked his use of the advent of digital music to help get across the idea of something that is digital but is irreplaceable.I think if you’re at all curious and even if you think you know a lot about the tech, this book will help refine your understanding.

Malekan's book will reawaken your senses about the brilliance happening in the world right now and it will keep you digging long after as you find yourself in a completely wonderful new world that is unchartered. This book will help you navigate these very new waters that are going to become as relevant as the internet itself.While I would say that you should read this book if you want to learn about one of the biggest disruptions to business to come and the peer-to-peer movement that is liberating humanity, that would be putting it too mildly.You actually HAVE to read this book if you want to seriously not just learn about the next major technology disrupter, but also help you think in ways to protect your portfolio, learn why the price of the coin, while relevant, should hardly be the main focus for the better world they'll create, and make you understand the genie is out of the bottle with the coins and the blockchain, and it can't be put back in, ever, as adoption ultimately goes mainstream.I'm also mad at the writer for waking me up to this revolution. Because I haven't slept for two weeks as he's made me take the deep dive. It'll do it for you too, and you'll never be quite the same again. But in 10 years, you're going to have some king-hell bragging rights for being an early to groundbreaking beginning that Omid Malekan will enlighten you on with his wizardly for making the complex easy to grasp.A must read !

This is a great primer on the history, present and future potential of what block chain has to offer. It’s rare to read a straightforward and informative account in the crypto space but Omid has created a useful guide to help people grasp all the basic concepts. I had been uninvolved in anything blockchain related beforehand but used the guide at the end to get some hands on experience with a crypto wallet which I can tinker with. Money well spent on this book.

Omid Malekan has a way of explaining concepts in an easily understood and pleasantly digestible manner. This book is organized in a logical manner with interesting considerations at the end of each chapter to make you think. The the accompanying illustrations help the reader better understand the concepts.I hope this author will continue to make intimidating subject matters easily digestible. Thank you!
